Can you try lttng-tools commit (latest I just pushed):

8db8d1dc9f11aa7995b2f77bb938f2585005413c

After some talk, I changed the SIGCHLD to SIGUSR1 since SIGCHLD is also used to
notify the parent that the child died. It might be the problem here.

Please let us know if this fix the problem. If not, we'll have to investigate if
your kernel properly deliver certain signal to applications (just to check if
the kernel is the problem here).
