Mathieu or Pierre-Marc will give you a more definite answer but the
kernel dependencies are minor if any.

You may also be interested in the fact that we are working on
integrating the kernel and user-space tracing control within the same
daemon and with TCF and Eclipse. We already had a few exchanges
regarding TCF with Felix Burton.
